Clayton Harris Accepted Big Donation from Anti-Choice Activist Who Said Abortion was “Murder,” Holds Press Conference with Donor Today
CHICAGO – Today, political insider Clayton Harris will be holding a press conference with an anti-choice activist who donated to his campaign and equated abortion to murder.
Charlie Dates contributed $3,000 to Clayton Harris last week.
In March 2023, Dates delivered an anti-abortion sermon in which he said,
“If they had went on and killed these babies, they would have sabotaged their own deliverance. And I gotta wonder how many deliverers has God sent us and we murdered them?”
“MAGA Republicans are attacking abortion rights across the country while Clayton Harris is accepting donations from an outspoken opponent of women’s access to healthcare who called abortion ‘murder.’ Democrats need to stand together against those who want to take away a woman’s freedom to make her own medical decisions,” said State Senator Sara Feigenholtz, a longtime leader on reproductive rights.
In March 2022, Dates attended a fundraiser for anti-choice U.S. Congressional Candidate Chris Butler. Other prominent anti-choice activists were also in attendance, as reported by Politico.
This is the latest in a series of Clayton Harris’s troubling, anti-choice ties.
While serving as Chief of Staff to convicted former Governor and Trump supporter Rod Blagojevich, Clayton Harris contributed to anti-abortion radical Republican Ethan Hastert – who was running against a Democrat with a 100% rating from Planned Parenthood.
As a anti-union corporate lobbyist from 2020 through 2022, Clayton Harris directed tens of thousands of dollars in political donations to anti-choice Republicans in Illinois. They even supported a candidate that a leading pro-choice group called, “the Most Anti-Woman Nominee to Ever Run for Illinois Governor.”
