Teamsters Joint Council 25 Endorses Justice Eileen O’Neill Burke for Cook County State’s Attorney

Campaign Releases 3rd Quarter Fundraising Totals

Chicago, IL – Today, the Eileen O’Neill Burke for Cook County State’s Attorney campaign announced the endorsement of the Joint Council 25 of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. Joint Council 25 is the umbrella organization for 25 local union affiliates in Illinois and Northwest Indiana representing more than 100,000 working men and women

“As the daughter of a labor leader and unwavering supporter of union rights, I am incredibly proud to earn the support of the hard-working men and women of Teamsters Joint Council 25,” said Justice Eileen O’Neill Burke. “Our campaign to bring both safety and justice to the people of Cook County is gaining momentum every day because voters know we’re going to fix what’s not working in our criminal justice system.”

“As a former prosecutor, criminal defense attorney, and judge for more than thirty years, Justice Eileen O’Neill Burke brings an unmatched record of experience and sound judgment to the campaign for State’s Attorney at a time when we need it most,” said Teamsters Joint Council 25 President Tom Stiede. “She is a shining example of the better life possible when workers are paid good wages and given fair benefits. On behalf of the 100,000 men and women of Teamsters Joint 25 Council and our local affiliate unions, we are proud to endorse Eileen O’Neill Burke and ready to get to work to help elect her to be the next State’s Attorney of Cook County.”

O’Neill Burke also released the results of her first quarter fundraising as a candidate for State’s Attorney, raising more than $203,000 from 271 unique donors since announcing her campaign on July 25, 2023.

In addition to Teamsters Joint Council 25, O’Neill Burke has been endorsed by the International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) Local 399, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Locals 134 and 9, Chicago Journey Plumbers Local 130, and the Union of Roofers, Waterproofers and Allied Workers Local 11.

Eileen O’Neill Burke’s father was a labor leader with the Hotel Employees and Restaurant Employees Union (HERE) which is now known as UNITE HERE. He passed away when Eileen was ten years old, and his union life insurance benefits allowed Eileen to attend college and become a lawyer.
